About Us

District 34 is one of 48 branches of the Retired Teachers of Ontario dedicated to promoting and protecting the interests of retired members of RTO/ERO. District 34 welcomes retired teachers and administrators who have worked in York Region, or have taught elsewhere but make their home in York Region. The District 34 membership of over 2750 is made up of retired elementary and secondary teachers, principals and vice-principals, and supervisory officers from the Public, Catholic, and French systems.

There are also a number of Associate Members, most of whom receive spousal pensions as widows or widowers of retired Ontario teachers. Recently, RTO/ERO has expanded the Associate members categories to include people who are receiving a pension who were not teachers but were employed by an Ontario School Board or educational organization. Please see the RTO/ERO web site www.rto-ero.org for these membership details.

RTO/ERO created the following videos to articulate the many benefits of membership and the organization's service to members and the community. You can view these by clicking here.
