McMichael Gallery Visit
You are invited to participate in an inspirational visit to the McMichael Gallery in Kleinburg. The gallery is situated amid 100 acres of conservation land and houses a sprawling complex of galleries full of the interesting and vibrant works of the Group of Seven.
Our day will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the McMichael Parking lot with a walk in the valley around the periphery of the property. We will see Tom Thomson’s shack and the grave stones.
At 11:00 a.m. we will meet in the front foyer of the gallery and take part in a conducted tour of the exhibit. Lunch will be served in the McMichael cafe at 12:30 p.m.
Then at 1:30 you are encouraged to release your inner artist, even if you think it is buried! Create your own masterpiece and have fun at the same time. This workshop is an introduction to landscape painting inspired by the art of the Group of Seven and their contemporaries. Participants will learn about the context in which the works were created as well as interesting approaches to creating individual landscapes
After the workshop there will be an opportunity to revisit the galleries until close at 4:00 p.m.
